As there is a high demand for hotel rooms in the summer we have made a block booking for PASC17 participants at several hotels in and around Lugano. In order to benefit from the room block you must book your hotel using the hotel booking portal. Enter your arrival date and departure date in the respective fields. To see the availability at all hotels in the region of Lugano and surrounding areas leave “Select” as the option in the drop-down menu for "City" and "Property". To limit the search to Lugano choose “Lugano” in the drop-down menu for “City”. Select “MAP VIEW” to see the location of the hotel relative to the conference venue. We recommend limiting “City” to “Lugano”, or “Lugano Paradiso” and “Lugano-Paradiso”. Note that Paradiso is a 15-minute bus ride or 30-minute walk from the location of the conference (very pleasant walk along the Lugano lakefront).

The room block is valid from June 24 to 30, 2017 and will be released on May 24, 2017. We cannot guarantee room availability after this date.

Lugano is easy to reach with several means of public transportation and also by means of private transport (the A2 motorway).

• Airplane

Lugano airport is situated just 15 minutes away from the town centre. Flights to Lugano are available from Zurich or Geneva airport with Swiss International Airlines and Ethiad Regional.

You can reach Lugano by train (15 minute walk from the airport), by taxi and by shuttle bus (it guarantees regular transport between the airport and the city centre in connection with departures and arrivals between 08:00 and 18:30).

Malpensa Airport (Milan, Italy) is 1 h 20 min drive from Lugano. An express shuttle bus connects Lugano main station to Malpensa Airport. Make sure you book the shuttle in advance. Go to the Malpensa Shuttle website to view the timetable and make a reservation online.


Zurich Airport is a 2 h 40 min train ride from Lugano that will take you through central Switzerland and through winding tunnels to cross the Alps. Well worth the trip for rail enthusiasts. Timetable available here.

The FFS, the Swiss railroad network, is extremely widespread and permits one to reach every inhabited centre of the country.

Coming from Milan, take the Laghi A9 motorway in the direction of Como-San Gottardo or the A8 motorway in the direction of Varese-Stabio (Gaggiolo).
Advised exit: Lugano Sud.

Coming from Zurich, take the A2 motorway in the direction of San Gottardo-Chiasso-Italy.
Advised exit: Lugano Nord.
